I’m Not Going To Finish, And Finished!

I’m not going to finish…

That is it! I can’t work this hard to read a book, so I am done after chapter 4. The book is already in the “return to the library” pile. Many years ago I gave myself permission to quit reading a book it I was not enjoying the read. The southern drawl was taking a lot of brain power to translate into my Yankee northern English. It is a great book. It is interesting and insightful. It is well written, but I am done. My favorite quote is a thought by Janie.

From now on until death she was going to have flower dust and springtime sprinkled over everything.

Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston

This year I decided to read the books my high school girls were reading in their lit classes. I read Huck Finn with the 10th grader, but I am going to pass on Their Eyes Were Watching God. My 11th grader is reading a graphic novel called American Born Chinese. So far it is … odd. A monkey deity, a Chinese American kid, and more. It is an easier read.

I FINISHED!!!

Right now my brain needs an easy read. On November 30 I won NaNoWriMo. Last week I printed out my work. Here it is…

Now for the editing. As Stephen King recommends in his book, On Writing, put your writing aside and let it marinate in a drawer for awhile. So here it sits, marinating in the file folder.
